Notice of Sample Hand-to Eye Recount

                

Beginning Thursday, December 5th, the Pender County Board of Elections will conduct a sample "Hand to Eye" recount for the NC Supreme Court Associate Justice Seat 06 contest.

Judge Jefferson Griffin currently trails in this contest by a very slim margin.

The sample recount is used to determine whether a full hand-to-eye recount of all ballots cast statewide is required. If the results of the hand-to-eye recount among the randomly selected voting sites differ from the machine recount, the State Board will order a statewide hand-to-eye recount of all ballots in this contest.

This recount is opened to the public and the schedule is as follows:

  • Start Time: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024

  • Location: Pender County Board of Elections Office. 807 S. Walker St., Burgaw, NC 28425

  • Members of the public may attend the recount; however, space may be limited.

Depending on which precincts are chosen and the time needed to complete the sample recount will determine if additional days are needed.
